Before Applying Any Work Pass

  • Know which job you are applying for and at which company.
  • Be aware of your declared salary and occupation mentioned in your IPA.
  • You must work only for the stated salary and occupation in your IPA.
  • It’s an offence to work if you know you’re not going to work in the stated occupation or receive the declared salary in the IPA.
  • Employment agencies in Singapore can only charge up to 1 month’s salary for a 1-year work pass and 2 months of salary for a 2-year work pass as placement fee, its an offence to charge more than this from the candidate!
  • Don’t believe agents who say “you go first on this pass and I will convert it later.” and don’t pay high.
  • You can’t work on a visit pass — it’s an offence.

After Applying Any Work Pass

  • Work Permit approval takes around 1 working day only.
  • S-Pass and other passes take 5 days to 3 weeks.
  • You can check the status of your application on 👉 "this website".
  • If status shows Pending, you have to wait for the results or your employer need to submit required documents to process your application.
  • If status shows Valid, your IPA(Visa) is ready.
  • Ask your employer to send you the IPA(Visa) that states your occupation, company details and your declared salary.
  • Cross check whether any difference in what agents/employer promised you and what is stated in the IPA(Visa).
  • Working for a different job or less pay is a crime.
  • If you don’t know anything about the company you applied for, you can contact MOM-Ministry of Manpower for more details.
  • If you know the company name you can purchase ACRA file that contains the details(Company name,Company address,Director name,Business activity and Company startup date) of the company for 5.5 SGD.
  • If you feel not reliable about the company you applied, and don't want to come you can simply call MOM helpline number or other relevant authorities.

  • Your employer must issue your work pass before you start work.
  • You cannot start work before your pass is issued.
  • After issuance, go for thumbprint registration.
  • Your Work Pass card will arrive by post within 5 working days.
  • You can’t work on a special pass — it’s an offence.
